Mission:
To reduce and prevent alcohol and other drug misuse
in Burt, Cuming, Madison, and Stanton Counties.
Priorities:
underage drinking among persons 17 and younger,
binge drinking among 18-25 year olds,
and drinking and driving across all ages.
The Healthy Communities Initiative (HCI) project was funded in September 2008 with the money that was received by the Governor's office in 2006. Because of this grant award, our HCI project is in the process of being implemented. The HCI coalition ideally will consist of three to four key stake holders from Burt, Cumming, Madison, and Stanton counties. These key stake holders will serve on the HCI Governing Board and work locally in their communities to help with implementation of evidence-based prevention policies, programs, and practices. The HCI coalition is in the "planning phase" of our grant period and upon approval of our strategic plan, we will move into implementation of our approved strategies.
The long-term goal of the coalition is to eventually apply for a 10-year federal grant. The chances of this 10-year grant being funded in the future increase by having strong data, plans, and individual coalitions to support our future application that clearly demonstrate a need for the funding.
