Elkhorn Logan Valley contracts with 3 school districts to provide School Nurse services. School districts are Bancroft-Rosalie Community School, Lyons-Decatur Northeast School, and Wisner-Pilger Public Schools. Currently for the three school districts there are approx. 1100 students

Services that are provided are:
  • Immunization record review on all students enrolled in the schools. This is done the first week of school.
  • Health Screenings completed on each student within the first quarter of the school year. Health screenings include: Height/weight, near and far vision testing, hearing test (audiometry and tympanogram), Blood pressure, teeth check, and scoliosis (scoliosis not required for each grade level each year). Any findings that fall outside of the parameters are addressed with the parent and brought to the attention of the school administration.
  • Emergency Action Plans completed for all students with Asthma, Diabetes or Severe Allergies.
  • Puberty talks for all 4th grade girls, 5th and 6th grade boys and girls.
  • Staff education on Epi-pen usage, and AED operation.
  • Medication Assistant training for specified staff members to be able to administer medications at during school hours.
Depending on the contract, we can also provide services for:
  • Head Lice- checking for and monitor head lice on students as well as educating parents on Head lice treatments. Routine or random testing is done according to the specifics of the contracts.
  • CPR training for staff.
  • Diabetic monitoring, if there are diabetic students in the school, we are there to assist the staff/parents in management of the diabetic student.
We can also be requested to conduct other training sessions or address other issues that arise through out the school year. (If it is outside of the contracted price, the school district must pay an additional fee for my time).
